Netto
What makes three stores perform so well, while the others aren’t?
Netto Sweden was struggling with an overall poor financial performance. Only a few stores were running well, keeping the operations alive. Others were dragging down the bottom line and it was unclear what was causing some stores to perform well, while others struggled.
Approach
SIGMA put on the Netto uniform and “interned” in both the well and the poorly-performing stores. Conducting structured field research and working alongside both cultures the key cultural drivers of success became visible and could be replicated throughout the chain.
Results
After years of financial struggles, Netto Sweden finally managed to make money. The yearly result went from 60 million SEK in 2014 to 104,8 million SEK in 2015.

Our Story with Netto
”We had financial issues, and our image was unclear internally and externally. We all knew that there was something unique about Netto, but we couldn’t put a finger to what it was. With SIGMAs help it was made tangible. We were allowed to talk about our issues, and that really helped. We didn’t invent a new culture, it was there already! The yearly result went from 60 million SEK in 2014 to 104,8 million SEK in 2015 after this, and I am so happy we invested in this.
